Web Site Content

The University of Dubuque Web Site is an electronic publication and its purpose is to promote and further the best interests of the University. Therefore, all web sites/home pages proposed to be linked to the University's web site shall be approved or disapproved by the Office of Enrollment Management, Marketing and University Relations and/or the Board of Trustees based on their congruence—that is, whether or not the formats, ideas, or images reflect, support, and advance the University's mission and vision.

The following are incongruent with the University of Dubuque mission and spirit:
• Objectionable or inappropriate material, which is defined as any format, idea or image which, in the context of a web site or home page, is inflammatory, abusive, defamatory, illegal, inaccurate, obscene, profane, rude, sexually improper, threatening, or vulgar.

• Dangerous information, which is defined as any information that, if acted upon, could cause actual damage or promote a disruption in operations.

• Violations of general privacy, which reveals personal information about others without their prior and expressed permission.

• Violations of personal safety, such as revealing personal information about one’s self which may cause personal injury or emotional trauma through unintended and unwanted contact.

Copyright and Plagiarism
It is assumed that all University of Dubuque Web Site pages are published in accordance with and protected by copyright law, except where copy and distribution of information has been expressly granted on any given page.

Authors of approved web site information must certify that the format, ideas, or information presented are their own, giving due credit to others — according to copyright law — in the spirit of the University's mission statement.

Essential Standards of Quality
All pages must include an e-mail address for the person or persons responsible for the publication of the document.

Standard American English is considered the primary language of choice. All Web Site pages and linked pages must be accurate in the grammar and spelling of all languages used.

All photographs and graphics published on the University's Web Site must be professional quality and appropriate in application as determined by the Office of Enrollment Management, Marketing and University Relations.
Timeliness
Running a Web Site involves the continuing development of new pages and the updating of old pages. Linking pages from the University of Dubuque implies an obligation to maintain and update those pages. Pages that are not maintained or reviewed may be removed from the University's system by the University Web Editor.

All outdated or "stale" material will automatically be removed from the Web Site. Pages will be considered stale and subject to removal if they contain expired dates, or if they have not been updated for six months. Students and employees are responsible for supplying timely and up-to-date information to support previously published pages.
