Teaching & Research Interests

I am particularly interested in teaching students topics which from my experience significantly impact the direction and success of a business enterprise. This includes melding together various tools from the fields of economics, finance & strategic planning with an understanding of needs and motivations of those responsible for carrying out the tasks of the organization. Success in business is achieved through the persistent application of these, as well as other, fundamentals.

I continue to have a keen interest in the field of banking, which I was employed in for 25 years prior to joining the University of Dubuque.  Given this, I continue to research the role & influence of banking in today's economy and the changes occurring within that industry.  I also have an interest in the care for the elderly and serve as a member of the Board of Directors of an enterprise involved in independent and assisted living, care for those afflicted with Alzheimer disease and traditional nursing home care.
